The JAL Group provides the “JAL Carbon Offset (* 1)”, a system that customers are able to offset the CO2
emitted by the aircraft they boarded, in response to requests from customers who are highly concerned about
environmental protection and the prevention of global warming since 2009. As part of the renewal this time, we will newly engage with a Norwegian company CHOOOSE™ (* 2) to provide customers with a carbon offset
system that is easier to use and to understand.
Also, in light of the recent needs for visualization and reduction of CO2 emissions volume throughout the entire supply chain in business activities, we plan to provide corporate customers with services that enable
visualization and offset of CO2 per corporate.
In addition, in this program we plan to actively introduce J-Credit (* 3). J-Credit is a CO2 reduction and
absorption credit created within Japan. Using J-credit as a project for investment allows customers to contribute to revitalizing the economy of the region the credits come from, and reducing CO2 emission in Japan.
The JAL Group will make every effort to protect the environment in order to pass on our precious Earth to the
next generation.
(* 1) Carbon offset refers to a system in which emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, which cannot be avoided in daily life and economic activities, are first recognized, efforts are made to reduce them, and those
that are difficult to reduce are compensated by investing in reduction and absorption projects commensurate
with their emissions. The JAL Group has been offering the JAL Carbon Offset since 2009 as an option to offset the CO2 emitted by the aircraft in response to requests from customers who are highly concerned about
environmental protection and the prevention of global warming.

(* 3) J-Credit is a system that the Japanese government certifies the reduction of CO2 emissions through the
introduction of energy-saving equipment and the use of renewable energy, as well as the absorption of CO2
through appropriate forest management etc. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as the goal achievement of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) Carbon Neutrality Action Plan and carbon offsets.
